Summer Holidays!

After an insanely busy July, we are now on hiatus until September while various members are scattered around the country and the world on their own adventures. Some of us are visiting friends and family all over Canada, while two of us are on an R&D mission to Serbia (Guca!), Macedonia (Wine!), and Bosnia (Sevdalinka!).

Our big thanks to all of you who let us be part of your events, and for all of you who attended and brought such great energy to our shows! Special thanks to those who chose us for their special private events (including FOUR separate 50th Birthday celebrations!): Srdjan, Dave, Judith, Liz and Frank, JNZ Deli, Victoria’s Turkish Society, Faye, and of course Vesna!

Thanks to AJ for stepping in as summer sub on the baritone/tenor horn and filling on for Susan and Cory who are away traveling. She learned her parts in record time, and made every single gig since end of June!

And best wishes to accordionist and founding member Alyssa, who is on the verge of popping out a new potential recruit for the band!

This fall you can look forward to our CD release, and lots of great shows. If you want us for your event, let us know soon, we’re now booked up right through middle of October!

See you in September,

Orkestar Šlivovica

Updated Calendar

We have a very busy June and July, mostly filled with private events. Then we are on hiatus all of August while we scatter to the corners of the world (including Serbia, Macedonia, and Bosnia for some of us!). But fear not, we are booking lots of cool shows in September and onwards!

EDERLEZI success!

Thank you to all the performers and volunteers and helpers for the 2011 Ederlezi in Vancouver. We enjoyed a spectacular weekend with Brass Menazeri, Orkestar Zirkonium, Luciterra Tribal Dancers, Gradina Serbian Folkloric Dancers, and all of you crazy dancers!
